It's been a really exciting few weeks here at Southend YMCA. Our Face It competition has seen many inspiring face covering designs come flooding it. We have absolutely loved seeing everyone's wonderfully creative entries.
Our judges Amber Butchart, Lydia Kovacs and our own CEO Syrie Cox, have had their work cut out judging the winners. Not only did we have to extend our shortlists from 10 to 15, we also had to add runners up prizes because of the calibre of entries! Here is our star guest judge Amber Butchart announcing the winners and runners up...
Huge congratulations to Lily, 11, from Southend! Her cheerful and inclusive design, with its positive message, really impressed our judges. Lily will receive £100 Love2shop voucher and the chance to see her design become a reality! Read on to see how....
Well done to Gabriella McCanliss, 12, and Nizle Biju, 16, for being selected as 1st and 2nd runners up. They'll received £50 and £30 Love2shop vouchers. Gabriella's design impressed our judges for being so joyful and aesthetically pleasing and Nizle's for carrying such an important message.
Lily's design is now in the hands of local textile designer Patrick Moriarty of paisleypower.com who will be creating bespoke material with Lily's design and making her very special face covering into a reality. Patrick shared this exciting video of him working with Lily's design and preparing it for printing.
We have been so overwhelmed by the entries to Face It we have decided to exhibit all our entries in an online exhibition in the coming weeks.
