WHAT IS TALENT MATCH?

Talent Match is a Big Lottery Fund investment in Talent Match Projects across England aimed at helping long-term unemployed young people, aged 18-24, to gain employment across England. Its aim is to ensure that the skills and experience of the voluntary and community sector can be used to help tackle youth unemployment and it has been designed by young people, for young people.
Each project is led by a partnership of voluntary, public and private sector organisations and a panel of young people, that will deliver local employment solutions in response to local needs. In particular, it will work closely with local businesses to develop opportunities for young people to access jobs.

WHAT IS TALENT MATCH ESSEX?
In Essex, we're particularly focused on delivering locally relevant solutions in our key areas of highest unemployment in Southend, Thurrock, Harlow, Basildon and Tendring.

WHAT SUPPORT WILL YOUNG PEOPLE RECEIVE?
The young person's journey on Talent Match starts with individual, one to one support from a Talent Match Mentor who will:
> Be the one point of contact and support a young person throughout their whole journey to employment
> Help them to realise your potential.
> Develop an individual plan based on their skills, interests and goals
> Link them to our dedicated Employer and Skills networks or employers and training providers who can help them find job opportunities

Talent Match is designed by young people for young people and is aimed at helping those young people furthest from the job market.

David Coleman, 14-19 Senior Adviser at Southend-on-Sea Borough Council and Chair of the core partnership in the South East, said: "Talent Match is a very unique initiative, bringing together young people, partners from both the voluntary and private sectors, supported by local authorities. This whole innovative programme is focused on supporting young people who live in areas with high levels of unemployment, who are furthest from the jobs market and who do not have the opportunity to channel their individual talents and skills. Together we believe every young person has a talent and the partnership are committed to identifying and removing the barriers young people face in accessing education, employment and training opportunities and help them to achieve their full potential."
